The number of personal responses sent by email or letter to the WG from all cavers and clubs is important to demonstrate our interest.  Please support better future cave access and endorse CCC's efforts by sending in your personal short response before 30th September 2017.  We have provided a template letter which can be cut and pasted and adapted as you wish at download and the WG's email/postal addresses are given in this.

Craig y Nos Quarry Cave - September 2017

There is now a gate to access Craig y Nos Quarry Cave, installed by the landowner Dan yr Ogof Show Caves Ltd. A key to the gate can be obtained from Absolute Adventure, whose centre is on the opposite side of the valley and they are leasing the quarry land in question. Contact details are:

Ogof Gofan - Mar 2017

Visits to Ogof Gofan, which is on Range East, do not require a badge and it is simply a matter of contacting the Cambrian Caving Council access officer to negotiate the date you have requested for your visit with the MOD staff.  This process is done by email.

 

Costain A465 dualling cave closures for 2017 - Oct 2016

"Costain have agreed a protocol for closing caves with Cambrian Caving Council which involves the timely placing of durable explanatory official notices at cave entrances plus disseminating the same information in various media. So take notice that:

(1) Nant Rhin and Pont Gam caves will both be closed, along with their associated access paths, from March 2017 to June 2017 due to blasting operations for the A465 east-bound lane rock cutting.

(2) Ogof Capel and Ogof Gelynnen caves and footpaths will be closed from July 2017 to October 2017 during the removal of overburden above these caves for the new road construction of the west-bound lanes."

2017 CCC AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Cambrian Caving Council will take place on Sunday 12th March 2017 at Gloucestershire Cave Rescue Group Headquarters, St. Whites Road, Cinderford, Gloucester GL14 2TT starting at 12.00 noon.
