Rising
Access Approach from Glynneath via Pont-Nedd-Fechan to the road bridge over the river Mellte near Dinas Rock., where vehicles may be parked. The resurgence lies in the basin just South of the bridge over the River Sychryd before it flows into the River Mellte.
Description It is a small rising, just above river level, in the left bank of the River Mellte, lying in a small cirque. The pool is about 4m in diameter and 6m from the river edge. It's water was very clear compared with that of the Sychryd when in moderate flow. This water has been known to get muddy after visits to Pont Sychryd on the opposite bank of the Sychryd, Water could therefore flow under the river. This was dived in 1977 for 18m to a depth of 3m. The entrance that is small, becomes larger after a few metres. After 18m it branches, with the most obvious way on to the east closing down after 4.5m. The way on is anticipated to be in the north branch which is low and silted.
