Sink Cave
Access Cave near Ogof-y-Dafaid Meirw. Take the road off Gwaen Bryn-Bwch on the Pont-Nedd-Fechan to Ystradfellte road and go for about a mile to Berthllwyd Farm (at the Z bend by the duck pond). Enquire for permission to go to the site which is on the right 3m from the road and is a deep wooded fenced shakehole. The cave is at the bottom of this.
Description The shakehole is 30m diameter by 15m deep with oak and ash trees and a steep dry stream bed draining the marsh from the SE. Beneath the grit rock face in the SW corner is the entrance 0.5m x 1m with much damp debris and pebbles. It is 12m long and 0.5m to 4m wide. It takes much water in wet weather, which resurges in the passage in LNRC between sump 4 & 5. It ends in a mud choke.
