Rising Cave
Access Situated in the disused Blackrock Quarry on the minor road which runs along the Northern side of the A465 through the Clydach Gorge. The quarry is to the right of the road going uphill; opposite a pylon, a signed 'footpath' leads to a quarry bench from which a thorny slope can be descended reach the lower N face, where a small stream issues from the entrance.
Description A wet and tight cave throughout its length. Two waterfall climbs, and an 8m aven, lead to the final 40m aven to a choke (thought to be near surface).
History BNSSS in 1961. Extended by CCC and CSS in the 1980s. Terminal aven climbed in 1990
Hydrology Water has been noted for its low temperature and its chemistry is said to show long residence time Tests
