Single Rope Technique (SRT) training at Llangorse Multi Activity Centre
Courses are run each year by Caving Wales at the Llangorse indoor climbing wall located in the Brecon Beacons to teach cavers the basics of doing SRT for abseiling down and prussiking up ropes for caving. Some courses cover more advanced techniques such as rescuing somebody else using ropes. To book places on these courses, contact the Caving Wales Training Officer. Here is some feedback from last year's courses"Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed the course on Saturday. Please pass on my thanks to your colleagues; I definitely leaned a huge amount during the day and was pleased that the pace of the teaching was able to adapt to our abilities: as far as I know, we covered everything that we need to begin using SRT in a cave. My order is already in to Starless River and I just now need to plan a suitable trip while it is all fairly fresh in my mind! Thanks very much for organising and running this excellent training day.""Just a quick email to say that I had a fab day yesterday and have definitely got the ‘bad habits’ in check thanks to your excellent guidance. Feedback as follows:Value For Money Excellent value for money and I would expect to pay a lot more given the equipment provided and the experience and qualifications of the trainers.Trainers :I particularly liked the relaxed teaching style and approach to learning and excellent supervision while we descended and ascended the ropes many times. Did the Workshop Meet Your Aspirations Absolutely one of the best courses I have done and I know feel much more confident in my abilities. ‘Stay Safe’ being my new mantra from now on.Overall Comments : Thank you for delivering a fantastic training workshop in a relaxed, fun and informative manner. I learnt a great deal as well as putting to bed a few bad habits.".
